Welcome to the University of Maine Cheerleading page!

The purpose of this page is to inform you about the level of commitment, dedication and ability required of a Black Bear cheerleader. This page also provides interested individuals with an avenue to gain information on becoming a Maine cheerleader.

The cheerleaders' primary mission is to interact with the crowd in an effort to generate enthusiasm and spirit for University of Maine athletic teams. The cheerleaders also serve as ambassadors for the University and its athletic department at various events.

The University of Maine has a avid fan base that supports 17 varsity programs. The cheerleaders are at all home football and basketball games to enhance the energy level and ultimately to provide the Black Bear teams with a true "home field" advantage. As members of the cheerleading squad we have the opportunity to have the best seats in all of our venues, cheering for the top notch teams, with passionate fans!!!
