Bear Necessities Temporarily Moved to Alfond Family Lounge
ORONO, Maine -- Bear Necessities, the official merchandise store of University of Maine Athletics, has moved its location to the Alfond Family Lounge while construction takes place inside Alfond Arena.
The staff at Bear Necessities have officially moved to their new summer location and are open for business in Alfond Family Lounge. The Alfond Family Lounge is located in the Shawn Walsh Hockey Center, to the left of the main entrances to Alfond Arena.
Bear Necessities will remain at its current location inside Alfond Family Lounge until sometime in the fall when the renovation to Alfond Arena is complete. Alfond Arena is receiving a bit of a facelift over the summer to produce a better environment for both fans and teams during competition. Some of the upgrades include installation of a new rink floor, a new chilling system below the ice and a new ice-making procedure. The entire lower-bowl seating will be replaced as the bleachers in the middle rows will be transformed into seats and the benches at the end of the rink will be replaced. Also, the Arena will be updated with a new sound system, new flooring, improved air quality and updated fire alarm systems.
