Maine Athletics Cruise A Great Success
University of Maine coaches, staff and student-athletes set sail last Thursday in Portland, Maine with former student-athletes and fans. The group sailed around Portland Harbor with Casablanca Cruises.
Among the coaches and staff on board were: Director of Athletics Steve Abbott, football coach Jack Cosgrove, women's soccer coach Scott Atherley, field hockey coach Josette Babineau, men's basketball coach Ted Woodward, women's basketball coach Richard Barron, swimming coach Susan Lizzotte and baseball coach Steve Trimper.
"The cruise was was a wonderful event. Having the opportunity to connect with so many former players, and to see the tremendous turnout of Alumni, friends, and fans left everyone excited about the prospect of the coming year and all of the great things happening with Maine athletics," said Atherley. "The success of the evening has inspired us to actively find more ways to keep our alumni connected to our program."
The women's soccer program had a dozen alumni on hand for the cruise. All onboard had a wonderful time talking Maine athletics with current and former student-athletes, coaches and staff. It was a great night for the University of Maine athletic department.
