Black Bear Sports Properties, Blueberry Broadcasting, LLC Extend Relationship, University of Maine Coverage

ORONO, Maine – Black Bear Sports Properties (BBSP), University of Maine’s exclusive athletics multimedia rights partner, today announced an extension of their official flagship radio partnership with Blueberry Broadcasting, LLC. As a result of the new agreement, Bangor’s WKSQ 94.5 FM will broadcast all football and men’s hockey games and daily radio shows beginning this fall.  The station will also be home for any men’s or women’s basketball conflicts.  Additionally, WAEI 910 AM (Bangor) will carry football, men’s hockey, men’s and women’s basketball and select baseball broadcasts.  WAEI will carry coaches’ shows and daily shows for football and men’s hockey as well.

Other Blueberry-owned stations – WFAU 1280 AM (Augusta), WIGY 97.5 FM (Skowhegan) and WRKD 1450 AM (Rockland) – will carry football, men’s hockey, certain men’s and women’s basketball games, as well as coaches’ shows and daily shows as part of the Black Bear Sports Network.

“We are pleased to be continuing our partnership with the University of Maine and Black Bear Sports Properties to broadcast over 140 games and 35 coaches’ shows each year,” said Bruce Biette, vice president and chief operating officer for Blueberry Broadcasting.  “There are some very exciting things happening with Black Bear sports right now, and we’re happy to be part of it and bring all of the action to Maine fans.”

“We’re glad to have the opportunity to extend our relationship with Blueberry Broadcasting as their stations in Bangor, Augusta, Skowhegan and Rockland are key to our statewide Black Bear Sports Network,” said Justin Barnes, general manager for BBSP, which oversees management and talent for the Black Bear Sports Radio Network.  “Since we represent ‘Maine’s Team’, our goal has always been to reach as many Black Bear fans across the state as possible.”

Black Bear Sports Radio Network boasts a talented team as Rich Kimball, the play-by-play announcer for Maine Football, received the “Sportscaster of the Year” award last year by the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association and Jim Churchill, the play-by-play announcer for Maine Baseball, was tapped the winner this year.
