Select-a-Seat at the Cross Center Set for Sept. 24
BANGOR, Maine -- The University of Maine unveiled its new basketball floor at the Cross Center on Thursday, Sept. 12 afternoon. The Black Bear men’s and women’s basketball teams will play the majority of their games at the new Cross Center during the 2013-2014 season. Fans will have a chances to select their seats at the Cross Center on Tuesday, Sept. 24.
“We are thrilled to partner with the Cross Center,” said UMaine Director of Athletics Steve Abbott. “This is a state-of-the-art facility that our student-athletes will be competing in. This is a win for both the University of Maine and the city of Bangor.”
Both men’s and women’s basketball coaches Ted Woodward and Richard Barron spoke at the event on Thursday.
“This is a very exciting day for our program and our athletic department,” said Woodward. “The Cross Center is a fantastic facility and a very energetic venue to host our home contests, and we are looking forward to playing there. It will be a tremendous experience for our team and our fans!”
“The Cross Center is a beautiful and functional facility and is a wonderful addition for the greater Bangor area,” said Barron. “My team is extremely excited to play in such an impressive venue and we believe that our fans will enjoy the comfort and aesthetics that this state of the art arena provides. It has already proven to be a strong selling point in recruiting.”
Season ticket packages for basketball will be $99 for men's or women's basketball. An $180 hoops pack that includes both men's and women's basketball is also available. Courtside season tickets can be purchased for $200. The $69 UMaine faculty staff rate is also still available at the Cross Center.
