ATHLETIC TRAINING
Mike Kessock Sports Medicine Center |
The University of Maine Sports Medicine Team will provide the best possible care to ill or injured intercollegiate student-athletes. Each member of the Sports Medicine Team will do their part to provide leadership, counseling, and service necessary to prevent, manage and rehabilitate the injured student-athlete. All aspects of their health and safety will be paramount. The student-athlete's present and future welfare is the major priority in all decisions.
The Sports Medicine Team consists of certified athletic trainers,
team physicians, consulting physicians and other allied healthcare
professionals. The team works together to prevent, manage and
rehabilitate all injured student-athletes.
A Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) is a highly educated and
skilled professional specializing in sports medicine. Under the
direction of the team physician and in cooperation with consulting
physicians and other allied healthcare providers, the athletic
trainer functions as an integral member of the Sports Medicine
Team. All University of Maine certified athletic trainers are
