Following a season where the Black Bears advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals and a #8 national final ranking, University of Maine football head coach Jack Cosgrove has announced the team’s 2012 schedule. Highlights of the schedule include the 100th meeting of the Maine vs. New Hampshire series which will also be Homecoming, as well as BCS-foe Boston College, which will be the 1,000th official game in the history of the program.
Maine Has Highest Percentage of Student-Athletes Named to America East Fall Academic Honor Roll

Approximately 63 percent of America East student-athletes competing in fall sports totaling 632 participants earned America East Honor Roll distinction after achieving semester grade-point averages (GPA) of 3.00 or higher. Over half of those student-athletes and 322 total earned Commissioner’s Honor Roll status for completing the fall semester with a GPA of 3.50 or higher. Maine had the highest percentage of fall student-athletes named to the honor roll as 74.2 percent achieved a 3.00 GPA or higher.
Maine Baseball to Face Boston College at Hadlock Field in Portland

The Portland Sea Dogs announced today that the University of Maine Black Bears baseball team will face the Boston College Eagles in a game at Hadlock Field on Tuesday, May 15th at 6:00 PM.
Men's Basketball Defeats New Hampshire 80-69

Gerald McLemore (San Diego, Calif.) scored a game-high 25 points to lead the University of Maine men’s basketball team to an 80-69 win over New Hampshire on Wednesday night. Maine is now 9-10 overall and 3-5 in America East play while New Hampshire fell to 7-12 and 2-6 in league play.
New Hampshire Slips Past Maine in Women's Basketball Action

The University of Maine women's basketball team saw three of its players score in double-figures on Wednesday night inside Memorial Gym but New Hampshire scored 30 points off Black Bear turnovers en route to a 66-50 America East victory. The loss slips Maine back to 5-16 overall and 2-6 America East play while the Wildcats improve to 11-9, 4-4 in league play. Ashleigh Roberts (Wilmington, Del.) led the Black Bears as the sophomore tallied her second career double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, earning Maine's America East Player of the Game selection.
Samantha Baranowski
Samantha Baranowski (Stanhope, N.J.) led the Black Bears to a 2-1 week with wins over Vermont and Stony Brook. Baranowski averaged 16.3 points and 5.7 rebounds per game including setting career-highs in points per game in back-to-back contests with 18 vs Vermont and 19 at Hartford.
Matt Mangene
Matt Mangene (Miller Place, N.Y.) scored four goals in Maine's weekend sweep of #3 Boston College. Mangene, the Hockey East Player of the Week, scored the game-winning goal in overtime on Friday night. He followed that up with his first collegiate hat trick on Saturday in Maine's 7-4 victory.
