Men's Hockey Inks Two More During Last Week's NLI Signing Period

Both Emil Westerlund and Adrian Holesinsky Will Look To Add Offense For Maine Up Front

The University of Maine Men's Hockey program received National Letters of Intent from two more young men during last week's NLI signing period. These student-athletes will aim to bolster the class that inked their NLI's during the fall signing period.
 
Emil Westerlund – Linkoping, Sweden – Forward – Linkoping HC J20 (SuperElit)
 
Swedish forward Emil Westerlund looks to add a scoring touch for the Black Bears in the coming season. The 1998 born player notched 28 goals and 11 assists for 39 points in 44 games in SuperElit league play. Westerlund also spent time with the Swedish U19 national team, scoring 3 goals in 4 games. Westerlund also adds size up front, standing at 6'1" and weighing in at 190 lbs. When referencing Westerlund, Coach Gendron spoke highly of the forward saying, "[Westerlund] has exceptional size, speed and physicality, who plays with great intensity at the net front."
 
Adrian Holesinsky – Cadca, Slovakia – Forward – Janesville Jets (NAHL)
 
From Cadca, Slovakia, Adrian Holesinsky looks to be a dynamic player up front for the Black Bears. The 1996 born forward lead the Janesville Jets in points per game and finished his season with 11 goals and 25 assists for 36 points in 30 games. The crafty forward has also spent time with Team Slovakia at the U18 and U20 levels, tallying 3 goals and 5 assists in 10 games. Holesinsky comes to Maine standing at 6'0 " tall and weighing in at 185 lbs. Gendron praised Holesinsky stating, "[Holesinsky] is a very mature player with exceptional stick skills and hockey sense. His passion for the game is boundless.
 
These two young men will join those listed below at Maine and round out the NLI signees for the 2016-2017 academic year.
 
 
Jeremy Swayman – Anchorage, AK - Goaltender – Sioux Falls Stampede (USHL)
 
Alaska Native Jeremy Swayman is a late 1998 birth year goaltender that possesses both size and athleticism. He stands at 6'2" and weighs in at 183 lbs. Swayman currently plays for the Sioux Falls Stampede of the United States Hockey League where he has compiled a 2-5-0-1 Record and a .897 goals against average during his rookie campaign. The year prior Swayman backstopped the Pikes Peak Miners 18U AAA team to a 7-8-1-1 record with a 2.50 goals against average to go along with his .927 save percentage.
 
 
Alexis Binner -  Stocksund, Sweden -  Defenseman – Green Bay Gamblers (USHL)
 
Another late 1998 birth year, Alexis Binner will be attending the University of Maine by way of Stocksund, Sweden. The 6'4," 209 lbs defenseman currently plays in the USHL. Through 15 games he has collected 1 assist and 8 PIMs. The year prior, Binner played for the Selects Hockey Academy 18U team where he compiled an impressive stat lines with 16 goals, 12 assists for 28 points to go along with 21 PIMs through 26 games. Coach Gendron spoke about what Binner brings to the program stating, "Binner is an outstanding skater with outstanding size and an excellent shot from the point. He will also provide tremendous grit."
 
Cameron Spicer - Erie, CO – Defenseman – Islanders Hockey Club (USPHL)
 
Cameron Spicer signed his NLI and will be joining the Black Bears by way of Islanders Hockey Club in the USPHL Premiere division. Currently, through 9 games the defenseman has compiled 1 goal and 3 assists for 4 points. Prior to the 2016-2017 season, Spicer played for the Bloomington Thunder in the USHL compiling 4 assists in 33 games and a +3 rating. The year prior to that he split time between the Tri-City Storm and Bloomington Thunder were in total he compiled 2 goals and 7 assists for 9 points and a +6 rating in 50 games. Spicer is another big body on the defensive end of the ice standing at 6'1" and weighing in at 194 lbs. Coach Gendron described the Erie, CO native as a "slick skating defenseman with size and a good shot from the point."
 
Eduards Tralmaks – Riga, Latvia – Forward – Chicago Steel (USHL)
 
Tralmaks hails from Riga, Latvia. The 6'3" forward has started the 2016-2017 season with the Chicago Steel, compiling 1 goal and 1 assist for 2 points and a +3 rating through his first 6 games. During the 2015-2016 campaign, Tralmaks spent time in the Eastern Hockey League playing for the Boston Jr. Bandits where he compiled 28 goals, 27 assists for 55 points in 40 games. When asked about Tralmaks, Head Coach Red Gendron described him as a " big, thick forward with outstanding hockey sense and shot. He is also very good in the dirty areas around the net."
 
Brady Keeper – Cross Lake, Manitoba, CAN – Defenseman – OCN Blizzard (MJHL)
 
Brady Keeper is coming to the University of Maine by way of OCN Blizzard of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. Currently during the 2016-2017 season, the 6'2" 194 lbs. defenseman has 12 goals and 11 assists in 18 games played. During his career 131 games, he has compiled 41 goals, 67 assists and 108 points. When asked about Keeper, Coach Gendron described him as, " [Keeper] is a powerplay type defenseman with exceptional poise at the line. He has a great shot and has the ability to make the uncommon play."
 
Adam Dawe – Gander, NL, Canada – Forward – Notre Dame Hounds (SJHL)
 
Adam Dawe will be joining the Black Bear from the Notre Dame Hounds of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. The 99-birth year forward has 7 goals and 10 assists through his first 14 games of the 2016-2017 season. During the 2015-2016 season, Dawe served as a captain for the Notre Dame Hounds Midget AAA team where he compiled 30 goals and 24 assists for 54 points in 44 games. When asked about Adam Dawe, Gendron elaborated stating "[Dawe] has extraordinary quickness and compete level. He also has a tremendous knack for creating offense."
 
The eligibility of all student-athletes is contingent upon admission to the University of Maine and compliance with all NCAA rules, including registration with the NCAA Clearinghouse.
