HEADING INTO 2012: Is expected to start at second base for the Black Bears... a good defensive infielder... also bring a lot of speed to the lineup.
2011: Named to the America East Second Team and the America East All-Rookie Team... Named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American... Started 28 out of the 36 games he appeared in…finished the season with a batting average of .363 with 33 hits, 19 RBIs, and eight doubles…held a batting average of .400 or better for 13 consecutive games…hit 3-for-5 against Rollins (3/12), tallying three RBIs and scoring two runs on a double and a pair of singles... notched three RBI against UMBC (4/30) after hitting 2-for-5... hit a perfect 3-for-3 against Albany (5/8), scoring twice and knocking in two runs, also stole two bases in the game…drove in two runs on a single against Hartford (5/15)…ended the season with 29 putouts and 79 assists.
BEFORE MAINE: Played for Peter Angelou at Phillip Pocock High School... during his senior year he had a .375 batting average with a pair of home runs... his high school team won a championship... named athlete of the year as a junior... also played football in high school.... born July 16, 1992...son of Chris Black and Nicole Cunkan...a history major.
