HEADING INTO 2012: Is expected to be in Maine’s starting rotation. 

2011:  Had an outstanding freshman season... named to the America East Second Team... named a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American...  Saw action in 20 games for the Black Bears... finished the season with a 3-1 record... had a team-low 2.37 ERA... did not allow an earned run in six consecutive appearances (3/2-3/19)... threw a complete game gem against Saint Peter’s (3/27), allowing one run on five hits while striking out eight batters... pitched three innings in relief in the America East Tournament against Stony Brook (5/26) where he did not allow a hit and struck out a pair... pitched 5.1 innings in relief against James Madison (6/5) in the NCAA Regional... surrendered just one run on seven hits while striking out two... allowed only three earned runs in his last nine performances of 2011. 

BEFORE MAINE:  Captain for Richard Magner at Xavier High School...compiled a 1.67 ERA during his high school career with 79 strikeouts... pitched 70 innings... named second team all-state... named all-tournament... born March 6, 1992... son of Patrick and Barbara Coughlin... an education major.
