Patzalek and Heath Honored by America East

ORONO, Maine -- University of Maine baseball players Tyler Patzalek (Burlington, Ontario) and Scott Heath (Westbrook, Maine) were honored by America East on Monday for the Black Bears' record-setting performance over the weekend. Patzalek was named the America East Player of the Week, while Heath was named the America East Rookie of the Week. 

The Black Bears exploded for 76 runs in their weekend series sweep of UMBC, including setting a school and America East record by scoring 32 runs in the second game of a doubleheader on Friday. Maine also set a school record for doubles in a game with nine in the second game on Saturday. 

Patzalek hit .522 (12-for-23) last week with eight runs scored and a team-best 15 RBI. He had three doubles and three home runs. Patzalek finished the weekend with a .538 on-base percentage and a 1.043 slugging percentage. In Maine's 32-14 win over the Retrievers on Friday, Patzalek went 3-for-6 with five runs scored and six RBI. 

Heath hit .476 last week with eight runs scored and seven RBI. He had three doubles on the week for the Black Bears. Heath finished with a .560 on-base percentage and a .619 slugging percentage. In Maine's 32-14 win over the Retrievers, Heath went 4-for-5 with four runs scored and an RBI. 

Patzalek, Heath and the Black Bears return to action on Tuesday, April 10 when they host Colby College at 4 PM and Mahaney Diamond.
