Sam Balzano Earns America East Rookie of the Week

University of Maine first year outfielder Sam Balzano (Portland, Maine) has been named Rookie of the Week by America East for his stellar performance last week.

Balzano made ten appearances at the plate on the week and made the most of them, registering four hits, three RBIs, and a pair of walks for an average of .571 and an on base percentage of .667. He drove in a run in the wins over Western Michigan, Bowling Green, and in the loss to Fairfield. Balzano also went 2-for-2 in stolen base attempts.

The Black Bears will return to action on Friday, March 16 as they take on NJIT at the Seton Hall Strikeout Cancer Tournament at Seton Hall in South Orange, N.J. The first pitch is set to be thrown at 4 PM.
