Leggett to be Inducted Into ABCA Hall of Fame

Former University of Maine baseball and football standout Jack Leggett will be inducted into the American Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame on January 3, 2014 in Dallas, Texas. Leggett is currently the head baseball coach at Clemson.

"This is a great honor for not only one of the greatest colleges coaches, but a true Black Bear at heart," said Maine head coach Steve Trimper. "Coach Leggett still bleeds blue, and has been a great mentor and friend to myself. I always look forward to the calls from him to check in on our team. The ABCA Hall of Fame induction is well earned!"

In 33 seasons as a head baseball coach at Vermont, Western Carolina and Clemson, Leggett has amassed 1,224 wins. He ranks 14th in NCAA Division I history and sixth among active coaches.

Leggett is a 1976 graduate of the University of Maine where he played both baseball and football. He was a captain of Maine's 1976 baseball team that competed in the College World Series. In addition, he was a two-time All-Yankee Conference selection in football as a defensive back and a place kicker.
