ORONO, Maine -- University of Maine baseball players Scott Heath (Westbrook, Maine) and Tommy Lawrence (West Haven, Connecticut) were named to the 2014 New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association All-Star Game Roster announced on Wednesday, May 28. Heath earned a spot on the University Division First Team, while Lawrence was named to the Second Team.
Heath had an outstanding year for the Black Bears, hitting .361 with 23 runs scored and 29 RBI. He had 14 doubles and four home runs to go along with a pair of triples. Heath led the Black Bears with a .555 slugging percentage. He earned a spot on the America East First Team as a designated hitter and the America East Second Team as a first baseman. He was also Maine's representative on the 2014 America East All-Tournament Team. Heath also earned a spot on the All-New England First Team.
Lawrence finished the season 8-5 with a 3.18 ERA. He struck out 97 batters in a team-high 104.2 innings on the season. The 97 strikeouts were the third most in a single season in Maine history. He finished with six complete games and had a pair of shutouts. He was named to the America East First Team and the All-New England Second Team.
The game is slated to be played on Sunday, June 1 at 7 PM at LeLacheur Park in Lowell, Massachusetts.
