Men's Basketball Hosts Laval on Saturday at 12 p.m.

ORONO, Maine - The University of Maine men's basketball team hosts Laval University in an exhibition game on Saturday at 12 p.m. in the Alfond Arena. 

Storylines

The University of Maine men's basketball team opens its exhibition season with a game against Laval.

Maine is coming off a 12-17 (6-10 America East) campaign that included a win over Atlantic-10 squad Rhode Island. 

The Black Bears were picked to finish fifth in America East according to the preseason coaches' poll.

The Black Bears return three starters in 2011-12 All-Conference players Mike Allison (All-Defensive), Alasdair Fraser (Third Team) and Justin Edwards (All-Rookie).

Fraser was named to the America East and College Sports Madness Preseason All-Conference First Teams while Edwards (CSM First Team) and Allison (CSM Second Team) also garnered honors.

Maine and Laval last tangled during the Black Bears' tour of Canada in August of 2010, with the Black Bears coming away with the victory 87-80; Jon McAllian, Fraser and Allison all saw action in that contest.

Laval is coming off a 73-66 win over the Varsity Reds and were led by Karl Demers-Belanger's 30 points and Joakim Longpre's nine points and 10 rebounds . 

Maine plays its next exhibition game on Saturday, Nov. 3 against Acadia University in the Memorial Gym.
