Men's Basketball Heads to Albany to Play Great Danes on Saturday Evening
ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine men's basketball team heads to Albany to take on the Great Danes on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Fans can hear all the action on the Black Bear Sports Network while the game is also going to be broadcast live on Time Warner Cable Channel 9 in the Bangor area.
The University of Maine men's basketball team (7-9, 2-1) plays its second road conference game of the year against the Albany Great Danes (13-4, 2-1).
The Black Bears are coming off a close 68-61 loss at Hartford.
Albany is coming off a 71-59 win at Binghamton.
Sam Rowley had 21 points, 13 rebounds and four assists to lead the Great Danes.
Last season, the Great Danes took both contests, winning 76-75 in Albany and 76-68 in Orono.
Edwards averaged 15.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists while Fraser averaged 12.5 points and four rebounds in the two contests.
Edwards ranks 58th in the country in points per game and 65th in steals; Fraser is 50th in rebounds per game, 85th in blocks and 97th in field goal percentage; Maine ranks 99th in blocks and 99th in steals per game.
Maine's Xavier Pollard is seven assists shy of 100 for his career while Edwards is 13 points shy of 700 for his career and seven rebounds shy of 250.
Maine's Mike Allison currently has 107 blocks which put him fifth in program history, and also has 414 rebounds; should he grab 500 rebounds he would be just the second player in program history to notch 500 rebounds and 100 blocks (Jeff Cross, 1981-84).
