Men's Basketball Travels to Stony Brook for Saturday Game

ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine men's basketball team travels to take on Stony Brook on Saturday afternoon. Fans can catch all the action on the Black Bear Sports Network.

Storylines

The University of Maine men's basketball team (8-11, 3-3) travels to take on defending America East Regular Season Champion Stony Brook.

The Black Bears are coming off a 71-68 win over defending America East Champion Vermont.

Maine was led by Alasdair Fraser who just missed a triple-double with 20 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists while Justin Edwards added a game-high 22 points.

Stony Brook is coming off an 81-73 loss to Vermont and will play UMBC on Wednesday before taking on the Black Bears.

Against the Catamounts, Stony Brook was led by freshman phenom Jameel Warney who had 15 points and 10 rebounds.

The Black Bears fell to the Seawolves twice last season in a pair of close contests, falling 58-52 in Orono and 55-48 in Stony Brook.

Edwards averaged 13.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.0 assists in the games while Fraser added 10.0 points and 7.0 rebounds.

The game features two of the top-3 rebounding players in the league with Maine's Alasdair Fraser (2nd-8.7 rpg) and Stony Brook's Tommy Brenton (4th-8.4 rpg).

Maine's Mike Allison currently has 109 blocks which put him fifth in program history, and also has 442 rebounds; should he grab 500 rebounds he would be just the second player in program history to notch 500 rebounds and 100 blocks (Jeff Cross, 1981-84).
