Men's Basketball Travels to UMBC

BALTIMORE, Md. -- The University of Maine men's basketball team travels to take on the UMBC Retrievers on Saturday evening at 7 p.m. Fans can catch all the action on the Black Bear Sports Network.

Storylines

The University of Maine men's basketball team (8-13, 3-5) travels to take on the UMBC Retrievers (5-16, 3-5).

The Black Bears are coming off a heartbreaking 57-54 loss to New Hampshire. 

Maine was led by Alasdair Fraser who had 20 points and eight rebounds while Xavier Pollard added nine points, five rebounds and three assists. 

UMBC is coming off a 61-58 win at Binghamton.

Chase Plummer had 17 points and 10 rebounds while Brian Neller added 18 points.

The Black Bears defeated the Retrievers 81-66 earlier this season in Orono.

Jon Mesghna had 16 points and five rebounds, Pollard added 10 points and seven assists, Mike Allison had 10 points and 10 rebounds and Fraser added 17 points and six rebounds.

Maine's Mike Allison currently has 114 blocks which put him fifth in program history, and also has 450 rebounds; should he grab 500 rebounds he would be just the second player in program history to notch 500 rebounds and 100 blocks (Jeff Cross, 1981-84).

Fraser is looking for his third 20-point effort in the last four games.

Maine's Zarko Valjarevic is averaging 13.0 points per game in the last four. 

The Black Bears are looking for their fourth-straight win at the RAC Center.
