ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine men's basketball team hosts Albany as part of the men's and women's basketball doubleheader on Saturday at 3 p.m. One ticket gets fans in to see both contests.
The University of Maine men's basketball team (8-15, 3-7) hosts the Albany Great Danes (18-7, 7-4) in an America East clash.
The Black Bears are coming off a 79-72 loss at Boston University.
Maine was led by Xavier Pollard who had 20 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals while Alasdair Fraser had 16 points and eight rebounds and Justin Edwards returned from injury to score 16 points.
Albany is coming off a 79-56 win at UMBC.
Peter Hooley led the Great Danes with 10 points, eight rebounds and six assists.
The Great Danes defeated Maine earlier this season by the score of 76-63.
Alasdair Fraser led the Black Bears with 16 points and nine rebounds the first time against Albany while Xavier Pollard added 15 points and five boards.
Maine's Mike Allison currently has 120 blocks which put him fifth in program history, and also has 460 rebounds; should he grab 500 rebounds he would be just the second player in program history to notch 500 rebounds and 100 blocks (Jeff Cross, 1981-84).
Maine's Pollard is averaging 15.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists the last two contests while Fraser has notched a double-digit scoring effort and at least eight rebounds in five out of the last seven games.
