CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Junior guard, Xavier Pollard was named America East player of the week after helping Maine men's basketball win back-to-back games last week against UNH and UMBC. This is the third time this season that a member of the Black Bears has been honored by a weekly award.
The Bronx, N.Y., native averaged 19.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.0 steals in games against Wildcats and Retrievers. Pollard led the team in scoring in both contests as well scoring 20 points against UNH in Durham, N.H., on Wednesday night and followed it up with an 18 point performance against UMBC at the Cross Insurance Center on Saturday afternoon.
