CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Freshman Troy Reid-Knight had a strong week for the Black Bears helping the team split its final two games of the season and the conference took notice, naming him the America East player of the week on Monday afternoon.
The Vaughan, Ontario native averaged 10.5 points, 3.0 rebounds and 6.5 assists through the two games against UMass Lowell and New Hampshire. Reid-Knight's best game came on Sunday in the season finale as he was one assist shy of a double-double, scoring a team-leading 15 points and nine assists.
Both his points and assists numbers against the Wildcats match or set a new career-high for the first year player, with the 15 points matching a career-best and nine assists breaking his previous top-mark of six, which he tallied against UMBC on Feb. 1.
Reid-Knight at the Black Bears secured the seventh seed of the America East tournament with the win yesterday afternoon and are set to play Stony Brook at the conference tournament on Saturday, March 8. That game is scheduled for 6 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN3.
