The 2012 America East Fans' Choice Player of the Year award ballots are open! Fans are encouraged to vote for their favorite Black Bears who are nominated for this year's award. Samantha Baranowski (Stanhope, N.J.), Alasdair Fraser (Falkirk, Scotland), Gerald McLemore (San Diego, Calif.) and Brittany Williams (Rochester, N.Y.) represent the four nominated Maine student-athletes.
Men's Basketball Defeats New Hampshire on Senior Day

The University of Maine men’s basketball team used a 12-to-4 run midway through the second half to take a 10-point lead en route to a 71-58 win over New Hampshire on Senior Day. Maine is now 12-15 overall and 6-9 in America east play while New Hampshire falls to 12-15 and 6-9.

Men's Basketball Falls Just Short Against Marist

The University of Maine men’s basketball team battled back from a 16-point deficit in the second half to cut it to just two points, but Marist was able to outlast the Black Bears for a 77-71 win in a Sears BracketBuster matchup at the Memorial Gym. Maine fell to 11-15 on the season while Marist improved to 11-16. Mike Allison (Lynden, Ontario) notched a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds and was named the America East Player of the Game.

Men's Basketball Falls at Hartford

The University of Maine men’s basketball team fell at Hartford by the score of 64-50 on Wednesday night at Chase Arena in West Hartford, Conn. With the loss Maine falls to 11-14 overall and 5-9 in America East play while Hartford improves to 7-19 and 7-7 in league play. Xavier Pollard (Bronx, N.Y.) earned Maine’s Player of the Game honor with 10 points, four rebounds and two steals.
