Derek Buttles Named to New England Football Writers All-Star Team

ORONO, Maine--University of Maine football standout Derek Buttles has been selected to the 2010 New England Football Writers FCS All-Star Team.

Buttles, a junior tight end from Pike, N.Y., was named to the All-CAA Second Team this season after playing in all 11 games and making 27 catches for 291 yards. He also made the game-tying touchdown grab against #14 New Hampshire. Maine would go on to win the game in overtime.

The team of 30, which represents 12 schools, will be honored at the annual New England Football Writers Captains and Awards Banquet on Thursday, December 9 at the Montvale Plaza in Stoneham, Mass. 

Buttles is one of just eight juniors selected for the team.
