Brown and Coston Lead Football to Season-Opening Win Over Bryant

ORONO, Maine – Pushaun Brown (North Brunswick, N.J.) rushed for 146 yards and two scores and Trevor Coston (Greenlawn, N.Y.) returned a punt for a touchdown to lead the University of Maine football team to a 28-13 win over Bryant in the season-opener for both teams.

The Black Bears got on the board early, as Brown had 57 yards rushing on the first drive and capped it with a one-yard touchdown run.

The Black Bears pushed the lead to 14 when Warren Smith (Forked River, N.J.) ran in a one-yard score with 6:06 left in the first quarter that capped a seven play, 26-yard drive that was setup by a 30-yard punt return by Coston.

Coston would give Maine a three-score lead a minute-and-a-half into the second quarter as he had a nifty 74-yard punt return for a score and the Black Bears went into halftime with a three touchdown lead.

Brown would put the game away late in the third quarter as he punched it in from a yard out to cap a seven play, 45-yard drive.

After Bryant cut the lead to 28-13, Coston would again come up big, intercepting a pass with under two minutes remaining to seal the game for the Black Bears.

Coston ended up with 130 punt return yards, including the touchdown.

Jerron McMillian (Hillside, N.J.) had a game-high 11 tackles while Arron Achey (Newmanstown, Pa.) had 10 tackles, including 2.0 tackles-for-loss.

Smith went 14-for-20 through the air for 135 yards.

Jordan Brown led Bryant with 128 yards rushing and two touchdowns.
