No. 8 Football Travels to Villanova

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.-- The No. 8 University of Maine football team travels to take on traditional power Villanova in a crucial CAA matchup on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

The University of Maine football team (6-1, 4-0 CAA), winner of five-straight, travels to take on perennial power Villanova (1-7, 0-5 CAA). 

Maine is coming off a 23-22 win over #18 Richmond on Saturday.

The Black Bears scored 23 fourth quarter points to comeback and defeat the Spiders.

QB Warren Smith threw for 277 yards and a score while WR Maurice McDonald caught 10 passes for 84 yards.

DL Michael Cole blocked the Richmond PAT in the fourth quarter, and DB Jerron McMillian ran it back for two points that would prove to be critical.

RB David Hood rushed 13 times for 77 yards and a score while DB Trevor Coston notched 11 tackles, forced and recovered a fumble and broke up two passes.

Villanova is coming off a 37-14 loss to Old Dominion.

The Wildcats were led by Dillon Lucas who had 12 tackles including a sack.

Maine is looking to keep on track towards its first conference title since winning back-to-back crowns in 2001-02.

The two teams battled last year in Maine's Homecoming Game, with Villanova winning 48-18.

WR Derek Session caught five passes for 61 yards and a score while DB Jerron McMillian had eight tackles and a sack in the game.

The Black Bears have not had a six-game win streak since the 2008 season.

Smith is now 355 yards away from 7,000 career passing yards.

Brown's 1,764 career rushing yeards have him tied for 11th on the all-time list at Maine. 

Coach Cosgrove currently has 70 career CAA victories, and is third on the active list behind Villanova's Andy Talley (112) and William and Mary's Jimmye Laycock (90).
