ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine football team hosts Villanova in the Black Bears' CAA opener on Saturday. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling 581-BEAR or toll-free (800) 756-TEAM.


The University of Maine football team (1-2) plays its conference opener against perennial power Villanova (3-1, 1-0).

Maine is coming off a 30-20 loss to Albany.

Maine QB Marcus Wasilewski went 23-36 for 164 yards and two scores while WR Maurice McDonald caught 11 passes for 93 yards.

Maine DB Kendall James notched his second-consecutive game with an interception while fellow DB Khari Al-Mateen notched a game-high 13 tackles.

Villanova is coming off a 24-8 win over Penn.

RB Kevin Monangai rushed for 109 yards and a score while WR Joe Price caught five balls for 113 yards.

Villanova QB John Robertson passed for 213 yards and a score while rushing for 55 yards to earn his third CAA Rookie of the Week honor.

Last year, in blizzard-like conditions at Villanova, McDonald caught eight passes for 96 yards while WR Arthur Williams caught two passes for 78 yards and a score; Troy Russell notched four tackles.

McDonald currently has 95 career catches for 993 career yards. 

Maine LB Donte Dennis went over the 250 tackle mark against Albany, and now has 252 for his career.
