ORONO, Maine – University of Maine football standout Michael Cole has been named the Colonial Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Week.
Cole, a junior defensive end from North Brunswick, N.J., made nine tackles including five sacks, and also forced a fumble as the Black Bears defeated #15 Delaware 26-3.
Cole now leads the nation with seven sacks on the year and has 21 for his career.
In addition to the CAA honor, Cole was named the College Football Performance Awards' National Defensive Player of the Week and National Defensive Lineman of the Week.
The Black Bears return to the gridiron on Saturday at Towson. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
