Football Announces 2013 Recruits!
ORONO, Maine – University of Maine football head coach Jack Cosgrove has announced the team's 2013 recruiting class.
"We are very pleased to announce the signing of our 2013 Black Bear football recruiting class," said Cosgrove. "This is a group we are excited about getting the opportunity to work with and grow into outstanding Black Bear student-athletes. Personally, I would like to recognize the efforts of our coaching staff who evaluated, identified and pursued these very talented young men. It is also important to recognize the contributions of our current team members as hosts and ambassadors of this great University. Finally, we would like to thank the many administrators and faculty members from our campus community who greatly assisted us in selling our program. Their efforts were key in our procuring these young men!"

Captain for coach Ty Outlaw at Bloomfield...Named All-Conference and All-State...Led team to a 7-3 record...Also a CCC Champion in shot put...An honor roll student.
***Austin Brown - LB - 6-0 - 230 - Easton, Pa. - Easton Area High School***
***Daniel Burrows - OL - 6-4 - 285 - Haverhill, Mass. - Haverhill High School***
Captain for coach Tim O'Connor at Haverhill...Led team to its best record in 25 years (8-3)...Two-time First Team All-MVC selection...Named a Shriners All-Star...Also played baseball and threw the shot put in track...An honor roll student.
***Spencer Carey - DB - 6-2 - 205 - Fairfield, Maine - Lawrence High School***
Captain for coach John Hersom at Lawrence...Named the KVAC Co-Player of the Year and All-State at safety...Led team to the Eastern Maine Championship in 2011 and 2012...Also an All-KVAC selection at basketball.
***Michael Condon - OL - 6-4 - 250 - West Caldwell, N.J. - Seton Hall Prep***
Captain for coach John Finnergan at Seton Hall Prep...Led team to a SEC Championship in 2010 and runner-up finish in 2012...Named Second Team All-State Non-Public, First Team All-Conference, First Team All-SEC and First Team All-County...Also played lacrosse.
***Matt Cosgrove - WR - 6-1 - 185 - Bangor, Maine - Bangor High School***
Captain for coach Mark Hackett at Bangor...Led team to the 2010 Eastern Maine Championship and a spot in the State Final...Team was 2011 Eastern Maine runner-up...Named First Team All-Conference at wide receiver and Second Team at defensive back...Also captain of the basketball team...A KVAC All-Academic Team selection and honor roll student.
***Kellen Croce - QB - 6-2 - 185 - Middlebury, Conn. - Pomperaug High School/The Gunnery School***
Led Pomperaug High School to a State Runner-up appearance and a 20-3 record his first two seasons...Named First Team All-League and Second Team All-State in 2010...Played his junior and senior seasons at The Gunnery School where he was a First Team All-League selection in 2011 and 2012 and a First Team All-New England selection in 2012...Also played baseball and led Pomperaug to the State Championship in 2010.
***Benjamin Davis - LB - 6-2 - 195 - Harrington Park, N.J. - Northern Valley Old Tappan***
Captain for coach Brian Dunn at Northern Valley...Led team to a 2012 League Championship and a spot in the 2011 State Title game...Named Second Team All-County...Had a 92-yard kickoff return to win the League Championship...Named First Team All-County and Third Team All-State in the 4X400 relay...School-record holder in the 100, 200 and long jump.

Captain for coach Richard Holzer at Meade...Led team to a 10-3 season and regional title in 2012...Named First Team All-State, First Team Big School All-State, First Team Baltimore Sun All-Met, Anne Arundel County Elite Eight, First Team All-County and First Team All-Conference...Played in the Crab Bowl...Also played basketball and lacrosse...An honor roll student.
***Jerickson Fedrick - RB - 5-10 - 208 - Salem, N.H. - Salem High/Choate Rosemary Hall***
Named the Eagle Tribune Offensive Player of the Year and Athlete of the Year at Salem...Rushed for 4,568 yards and 75 touchdowns at Salem...Also named Track MVP and was an 11-time State Champion...Rushed for 1,286 yards and 16 touchdowns at Choate.
***Najee Goode - DB - 5-10 - 170 - Philadelphia, Pa. - Imhotep Charter School***
Led team to the 2012 Public League and District XII Championships...Named a top-50 Pennsylvania recruit by The Patriot News...Notched 14 pass deflections, seven interceptions and forced five fumbles as a senior.

Captain for coach Michael O'Donnell at Archbishop...Led team to an appearance in the CHSFL AAA Championship Game...Named the Offensive Player of the Year and to the Golden Dozen First Team...Also played basketball and was the team's Defensive MVP...An honor roll student.
***Zachary Hume - LB - 6-2 - 230 - Lancaster, Mass. - Nashoba Regional***
Captain for coach Ken Tucker at Nashoba...Led team to the 2011 and 2012 Central Massachusetts Supwe Bowl titles...Named the Worcester Telegram Defensive Player of the Year, Mid-Wach Defensive MVP and team MVP...Selected to the ESPN All-State Team and named Super 26 All-State...Also named a Mid-Wach All-Star in the discus.
***Schuyler Huntington - DL - 6-3 - 257 - Cohoes, N.Y. - Shaker High School***
Captain for coach Greg Sheeler at Shaker...Led team to the 2012 Section 2 AA Super Bowl Championship and a 10-1 record...Named the Section 2 AA Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year, the Times Union Defensive Athlete of the Year, the Daily Gazette Defensive Player of the Year, the Troy Record Defensive Player of the Year and a Second Team All-State selection.
***Sam Lenson - P/K - 6-0 - 170 - Natick, Mass. - Natick High School***
Played for Coach Moratrelli at Natick...Led team to a spot in the Division 2A Super Bowl...Led the state in points by a kicker with 51...Competed in the National Kicking Service Punting Competition where he earned the Longest Punt Award (61 yards) and the Accuracy Award.

Named NEPSAC First Team All-Colonial League...Also the three-time track MVP and holds the record the in high and long jumps.

Captain for coach Pete Pascarella at Irvington...Led team to a spot in the semi-finals...Named All-Conference, All-County and All-Group 4...Named the team's offensive and defensive MVP...Also participated in track and field...An honor roll student.
***John Reddington – OL – 6-5 – 275 – Milton, Mass. – Xaverian Brothers/Loomis Chaffee***
Led his Xaverian Brothers team to a high school state championship…Played for coach Chuck Reid at Loomis Chaffee…Named First Team All-New England and team MVP.
