ORONO, Maine -- University of Maine punter Jeff Ondish (Elkton, Md.) has been named to the 2014 College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) FCS Awards Watch List announced on Wednesday, July 16.
In 2013, Ondish punted 57 times with an average of 40.4 yards per punt, including a 66-yard season-long against Stony Brook. The senior punter pinned opponents inside their own 20 yardline 20 times and kicked 10 punts of 50+ yards throughout the season.
"Congratulations to Jeff Ondish on earning a spot on this year's watch list," said CFPA Executive Director Brad Smith. "Ondish will be one of the top specialists to watch this season."
The goal of College Football Performance Awards is to provide the most scientifically rigorous conferment in college football. Recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams. Twenty-eight CFPA winners have been first-round NFL Draft selections.
CFPA is now entering its seventh season of recognition. The CFPA's player and team performance index ranks success in all three phases of the game -- offense, defense, and special teams.
The full list of 2014 CFPA winners will be announced January 14, 2015.
