IN 2010: Developed the linebacking and secondary units into two of the best in the CAA ... worked with LB Donte Dennis who was honored as an All-CAA player for the second-consecutive season and ranked sixth in the CAA with 108 tackles . . . Safety Jerron McMillian would also garner All-CAA honors, being named to the Second Team after ranking among the league’s leaders in passes defended . . . Maine ranked among the top-half in the CAA in rushing defense.

COACHING ACCOMPLISHMENTS: 

>> Promoted to defensive coordinator following the 2008 season.

>> Mentored a very good linebacking corps in 2009 and 2010 to become one of the best units in the CAA.

>> Maine also had a very good secondary, notching the second-most interceptions in the CAA in 2009 with 19 and incuded All-CAA selection DB Steven Barker

>> Coached Maine’s secondary in 2007 and 2008, as both years the unit had several young and inexperienced players inserted into the lineup due to injuries. The unit, however, was one of the most consistent groups on the team each of those years.

>> Worked with Maine’s special teams in 2007 and 2008. The Black Bears were an explosive kick return team as they produced 16 kick returns of 30 yards or more during that time.

>> Worked with P Kash Kiefer in 2007, as he set the school record for the longest punt when he uncorked an 82-yarder at Villanova.

>> Prior to Maine, he spent the previous six seasons at Thiel College in Greenville, Pa., including the last four seasons at the defensive coordinator.

>> In 2006, his defense ranked second in the President’s Athletic Conference in scoring defense, total defense, rush defense and pass defense. 

>> In 2005, he helped guide Thiel to the PAC title and a berth in the NCAA Division III playoffs.

>> That season, Thiel set school records for sacks (39), total defense (253 ypg), rush defense (80.3 ypg) and wins (11). Thiel’s defense also ranked eighth in the nation in total defense and ninth in rush defense.
