IN 2012: Helped develop a pair of 300-yard rushers ... coached both Rickey Stevens and Nigel Jones, who won CAA Offensive Player of the Week and Offensive Rookie of the Week, respectively. Helps direct and organize all summer camp programs.
Shawn Demaray enters his third season on the staff of the Black Bears. He was promoted to running backs coach following the 2011 season.
In his first season he coached the tight ends, he developed Justin Perillo into an All-CAA performer while another tight end, Derek Buttles, got an invitaion to an NFL camp. Perillo ranked among the leaders in the CAA for receptions.
Demaray came back to Maine after having coached the offensive line at Husson University in Bangor, Maine. At Husson, he helped to develop a very young offensive line that improved greatly throughout the season.
Prior to joining Husson, Demaray coached at Maine Maritime Academy where he coached an offensive line that consistently produces one of the best rushing attacks at the Division III level.
Demaray was an All-Conference offensive lineman during his teure as a player at Maine. He graduated from Maine in 2007 with a degree in kinesiology and physical education. He would earn his Master’s the following year from Maine in exercise science.
