Football Announces 2013 Schedule
University of Maine football head coach Jack Cosgrove has announced the team’s 2013 schedule. Among the highlights are a pair of contests against FBS foes which include games at the Big Ten’s Northwestern Wildcats and against long time rival UMass, which be played at Gillette Stadium, home to the NFL’s New England Patriots. The schedule also features the home opener on Sept. 14 against Bryant.

Maine Honors Scholar-Athletes for Academic Achievement
The University of Maine announced on Thursday that 250 student-athletes will be honored and recognized for their success in the classroom at the Scholar-Athlete Recognition ceremony on Monday, March 25, 2013. One-hundred sixty five student-athletes will be recognized as Scholar-Athletes for achieving a 3.0 or better grade point average for the 2012 year and/or having a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. Eighty-five first-year student-athletes will also be honored as *Rising Stars* for earning a 3.0 or better in their first semester at Maine. The Scholar-Athletes and *Rising Stars* total 250, over half of the student-athletes at the University of Maine.

Football Releases 2012 Schedule
Following a season where the Black Bears advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals and a #8 national final ranking, University of Maine football head coach Jack Cosgrove has announced the team’s 2012 schedule. Highlights of the schedule include the 100th meeting of the Maine vs. New Hampshire series which will also be Homecoming, as well as BCS-foe Boston College, which will be the 1,000th official game in the history of the program.

Maine Honors Scholar-Athletes for Academic Achievement
he University of Maine announced on Wednesday that 239 student-athletes will be honored and recognized for their success in the classroom at the Scholar-Athlete Recognition ceremony on Sunday, Feb. 6, 2011. One-hundred seventy four student-athletes will be recognized as Scholar-Athletes for achieving a 3.0 or better grade point average for the 2010 year and/or having a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. Sixty-five first-year student-athletes will also be honored as *Rising Stars* for earning a 3.0 or better in their first semester at Maine. The Scholar-Athletes and *Rising Stars* total 239, over half of the student-athletes at the University of Maine.

Jim Churchill, who broadcasts for the Black Bears Sports Network, was named the Co-Sportscaster of the Year in Maine, while Pete Warner, who covers four Black Bear beats for the Bangor Daily News, was named Sportswriter of the Year.

University of Maine football standouts Derek Buttles, Jerron McMillian, Derek Session, Chris Howley, Steven Barker and Donte Dennis have been named to the CAA All-Conference Teams. Buttles and McMillian were named to the All-CAA Second team while Session, Howley, Barker and Dennis were named to the Third Team. Barker and Dennis were named All-CAA for the second-consecutive season.

With the loss, Maine finishes the season 4-7 overall and 3-5 in CAA play while James Madison finishes the year 6-5 and 3-5 in league play. The Black Bears were led by Pushaun Brown (North Brunswick, N.J.) who rushed for 106 yards.
