Ryan Hegarty Signs with Syracuse Crunch

The Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League have singed former Maine defenseman Ryan Hegarty (Arlington, Mass.) to an ATO. Hegarty was initially drafted by the Anaheim Ducks in the fourth round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. 

He saw action in all 40 games this season and scored two goals and dished out a 12 assists. He scored the game-winning goal against Clarkson in the 2011 Florida College Classic and notched the game-tying goal against North Dakota early in the season. 

Hegarty saw action in 123 career games for the Black Bears on defense. He scored four goals and dished out 25 assists for 29 career points.

Hegarty becomes the fourth Black Bear to sign a professional contract following the season, joining Will O'Neill (Winnipeg), Spencer Abbott (Toronto) and Brian Flynn (Buffalo).
