Fourth Update of Black Bears In The Pros

Maine hockey has numerous alumni excelling in various hockey leagues around the world. The Black Bears are rolling out a new feature "Black Bears in the Pros", taking a regular update at these players. Here is the third edition of "Black Bears in the Pros."

 

This Week's Feature: This week's we highlight Anaheim Ducks forward Dustin Penner. He scored three goals and added an assist for four points last week. Penner scored the game-winning goal against Calgary on Friday night. He is tied for second in the NHL in +/- with a +17.

 
 

 National Hockey League

 

Ben Bishop – Bishop has won the starting job for the Tampa Bay Lightning in goal. He is 14-4-1 with a 2.08 goals against average and a .931 save percentage. His 14 wins are tied for third in the NHL.

 

Brian Flynn – Flynn has played in all 27 of 29 games for the Buffalo Sabres. He has two goals and one assist for three points on the season.

 

Jimmy Howard – Howard has started 19 games for the Detroit Red Wings this season. He is 6-7-6 with a 2.57 goals against average and a .913 save percentage. He has two shutouts.

 

Gustav Nyquist – Nyquist has seen action in six games for the Detroit Red Wings. He scored two goals in his season debut, including a goal 17 seconds into the game. He also had the game-winning goal. He has four goals and one assist for five points.

 

Dustin Penner – Penner is playing for the Anaheim Ducks. In 2 games, he ranks third on the team in scoring with nine goals and 12 assists for 21 points. He is tied for second in the NHL in +/- with a +17

 

Teddy Purcell – Purcell ranks tied for fourth on the Tampa Bay Lightning in scoring with seven goals and nine assists for 16 points in 26 games.  

 

Jack Capuano – Capuano is head coach of the New York Islanders. The team has a record of 8-15-4.

 

Mike Dunham – Dunham is the goaltending coach for the New York Islanders.

 

Dave Nonis – General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs. The team is 14-10-3 on the season.

 

Garth Snow – Snow is serving as the General Manager of the New York Islanders.

 

John Tortorella  Tortorella is head coach of the Vancouver Canucks. The team has a record of 14-10-5 on the season.

 

AMERICAN HOCKEY LEAGUE

 

Spencer Abbott – Made his NHL debut against Ottawa on Oct. 5. The rest of his action this season has come with the Toronto Marlies. He is tied for the team lead in scoring with three goal and 19 assists for 22 points.

 

Mike Banwell – Banwell has signed a PTO contract with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. He played in 13 games for the Reading Royals and dished out a pair of assists.

 

Mike Cornell – The Bridgeport Sound Tigers recently called up Cornell. He has two assists in eight games. Earlier this year he played for the Florida Everblades. He saw action in 12 games and has a goal and five assists.

 

Scott Darling – Darling has played in five games for the Milwaukee Admirals. He is 2-0-0 with a 2.05 goals against average and a .929 save percentage. He has one shutout.  

 

Joey Diamond – Diamond has three goals and one assist for four points with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in 15 games.

 

Matt Mangene - Mangene is playing for the Adirondack Phantoms. He has two goals and two assists for four points in 18 games. 

 

Will O'Neill – O'Neill has played in 17 games for the St. John's Ice Caps and has a goal and five assists for six points.

 

Scott Pellerin – Pellerin is head coach of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the AHL.

 

EAST COAST HOCKEY LEAGUE

 

Rob Bellamy – Bellamy has played in 17 games for the Elmira Jackals and has five goals and two assists for seven points.

 

Simon Danis-Pepin – Has an assist in 11 games with the Ft. Wayne Komets and has two assists.  

 

David deKastrozza  – Has six assists in 17 games for the Idaho Steelheads.

 

Ryan Hegarty – Hegarty has played in 10 games for the Greenville Road Warriors.

 

Mark Nemec – Nemec has played in 18 games for the Colorado Eagles. He has a goal and three assists for four points. Nemec leads the team in +/- with a +18.

 

CENTRAL HOCKEY LEAGUE

 

Matt Duffy – Duffy is playing for the Quad City Mallards. He has two and five assists for seven points in 14 games. 

 

EUROPEAN / CANADIAN/ ASIA LEAGUE

 

Derek Damon – Damon is playing for HC Thurgau in Switzerland. In 22 games he has nine goals and 12 assists for 21 points.

 

Robby Dee – Dee is playing for Riessersee SC, a professional team in Germany. He has four goals and six assists for 10 points in 23 games. 

 

Jeff Dimmen – Dimmen is playing for Anyang of the Asia Hockey League. He has three goals and 18 assists for 21 points in 22 games.

 

Frank Doyle – Playing for the Sheffield Steelers in the Elite Ice Hockey League in England.  In 26 games he has a record of 16-11-0 with a 2.78 GAA and a .901 save percentage.

 

Greg Moore – Moore is playing for the EHC Wolfsburg Grizzly Adams in Germany. Has played in two games this season and is recovering from an injury.

 

Michel Léveillé – Leveille is playing for the Cool FM 103,5 de Saint-Georges of the Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey. He has 10 goals and 10 assists for 20 points in 15 games to lead the team in scoring.

 

Mike Lundin – Lundin is playing for Barys Astana of the Kontinental Hockey League in Russia. He has two goals and 13 assists for 15 points in 32 games to lead all defensemen in scoring.

 

Alfie Michaud – Michaud is playing for SonderjyskE in the top Danish league.  In 13 games he has a 2.16 goals against average and a .910 save percentage.

 

Josh Soares – Soares is playing for IK Oskarshamn in Sweden. He has three goals and five assists for eight points in 19 games.

 

Colin Shields – Shields is playing in the UK Elite League in Belfast. He has eight goals and 13 assists for 21 points in 22 games.

 

Travis Ramsey – Ramsey is playing for the Ritten-Renon in the Italian Elite A. He has four assists in nine games this season.
