Martin Ouellette Named Hockey East Co-Defensive Player of the Week

ORONO, Maine -- University of Maine senior netminder Martin Ouellette (St.-Hippolyte, Quebec) was named the Hockey East Co-Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday, Dec. 31. Ouellette backstopped Maine's outstanding performance in the 2013 Florida College Classic. 

Ouellette finished the weekend 1-0-1 with a 0.48 goals against average and a .986 save percentage. He recorded 33 saves in a 4-0 shutout of Princeton in the first game. He followed that up by making 35 saves in a 1-1 tie with Cornell in the title game. Ouellette then stopped seven straight shots in a shootout to determine the champion of the tournament. He was named to the 2013 Florida College Classic All-Tournament Team at goalie. 

Ouellette is 9-6-2 on the season with a 1.87 goals against average and a .937 save percentage. He has three shutouts on the campaign. 

The Black Bears return to action on Friday, Jan. 3, 2014 when they travel to Quinnipiac for a game against the Bobcats.
