The Friends of Maine Hockey (FOMH) is well known as “The Team behind the Team!”
It is an organization that helps to promote and support the University of Maine Men’s Ice Hockey program and is operated by a Board of Directors - a group of volunteers that, to put it mildly, love UMaine hockey!
Their primary source of income is generated from FOMH Memberships. All income from FOMH memberships, as well as other fundraising activities, will go directly to the Men’s Ice Hockey program to provide well-needed support for scholarships, equipment, travel expenses, recruiting expenses, nutritional support and more.
Highlights and accomplishments of the 2011-2012 Men’s Hockey Team:
• Florida College Classic Champions
• Frozen Fenway 5-4 OT victory over arch-rival UNH
• Consecutive weekend sweeps of BC & BU (first time in Hockey East history)
• Shutout UNH 1-0 on Senior Night to earn home ice for HE Quarterfinals
• Defeated Merrimack 2-1 in game 3 of HE Quarter-final
• Defeated BU 5-3 in the HE Semi-final at Boston Garden
• Advanced to the NCAA Tournament for their 7th appearance in 11 years
• 9 consecutive semesters with above 3.0 GPA as a team
• The team’s 3.31 GPA for the fall semester was the highest in Maine Hockey history
With the confidence, experience and leadership of this year’s Captains Mike Cornell, Joey Diamond and Mark Nemec, and with your support, the 2012-2013 Season is sure to be another exciting and successful year! FOMH fundraising is an integral part of the success of the Maine Hockey program, so please show your support by joining the FOMH today! In addition to your membership, you may enhance your fan experience by joining our Monday Night Insiders or Center Ice Club, both of which will bring you closer to the team and increase your exposure to other Maine Hockey enthusiasts!
