McCormack Selected for NEISL All-Star Game

March 25, 2008

ORONO, Maine--University of Maine men's soccer senior Kiaran McCormack (Dundalk, Ireland) has been chosen to play in the 2008 New England Intercollegiate Soccer League All-Star game. The game will be played on May 3, 2008 at Clark University in Worcester, Mass. at 3 p.m.

McCormack, a back, is one of just three America East players selected to the team.

"Kiaran's selection to the NEISL All-Star game is a product of his perseverance and hard work," said Maine head coach Pat Laughlin. "He was able to make a large contribution to our team this year after suffering through three injury-plagued seasons. I am happy for Kiaran for his selection to this team."

McCormack served as captain of the Black Bears during the 2007 season. He saw action in 38 career games, including 14 last season. He scored Maine's lone goal in 1-1 draw with rival New Hampshire on October 6. McCormack has been named a UMaine Scholar-Athlete Award winner and also named to the America East Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.

Led by first-year head coach Pat Laughlin, McCormack and the Black Bears posted a winning record at home during the 2007 season, including knocking off UMass, a team that made it to the NCAA College Cup.
