Maine Announces 2008 Men's Soccer Schedule

May 27, 2008

ORONO, Maine - University of Maine men's soccer coach Pat Laughlin announced his 2008 schedule today. The schedule features nine games that will be played at Alumni Field in Orono.

"I am excited about our 2008 schedule," said Laughlin. "We have two tournaments to compete in during the first three weeks and this should really test out quality and depth. The America East Conference games are very competitive and I feel our challenging non-conference slate will help prepare us for them. We are also pleased to have nine games in Orono at Alumni Field this fall."

The Black Bears begin the season with a pair of exhibition games to be played at Alumni Field in Orono. Maine hosts UMass Lowell on Aug. 19 and Winstars Soccer on Aug. 22.

Maine kicks off the 2008 regular season at the UNH Nike Classic on Aug. 29. The Black Bears will face the University of Rhode Island on Friday and then play Adelphi University on Aug. 31. Maine will then travel to Sacred Heart for a game on Sept. 5 and Yale on Sept. 7. Maine will play in the LIU Adidas Classic in Brooklyn, N.Y. Sept. 12 and 14. The Black Bears will face host LIU in the first game and then Iona the second day.

The Black Bears then return home for a season-long four game home stand in late September. Maine will host Northeastern on Sept. 20, Bryant on Sept. 26 and Harvard on Sept. 28. The Black Bears open America East play on Oct. 4 when they host UMBC to end the home stand.

The Black Bears then hit the road for a pair of games at New Hampshire (Oct. 8) and Hartford (Oct. 11) under the lights. Maine returns home to face traditional rival Boston University on Oct. 15. The Black Bears then hit the road once again to face Stony Brook (Oct. 19) and defending America East Champion Vermont (Oct. 25).

The Black Bears return home for the final two games of the regular season when they host Albany (Oct. 29) and Binghamton (Nov. 2).
