Bickford, Sullivan Named to 2012 Academic All-District First Team
University of Maine swimmer Robbie Bickford (Milford, Maine) and men's ice hockey standout Dan Sullivan (York, Pa.) have been named to the Capital One 2012 Academic All-District Men's At-Large First Team. Both will now be placed on the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration. Both student-athletes are sophomores.

Fahey, Warmuth Inducted into Sophomore Owls Honor Society
It has been announced that swimmers Ryan Fahey (Quincy, Mass.) and Spencer Warmuth (Brewer, Maine) have been inducted into the Sophomore Owls Honor Society. Fahey, a biology/pre-med major, and Warmuth, an economics major, were inducted into the prestigious honor society earlier in the week

Head Swimming and Diving Coach Susan Lizzotte has announced that Carmen Linden (Ottawa, Ontario), Yuri Chornobil (Rochester, N.Y.) and Brent Williams (Clifton, Maine) will serve as captains for the 2012-13 season.

Trio of Black Bears Named to America East All-Academic Swim Teams
Three members of the University of Maine swimming & diving teams have been named to this year's America East All-Academic Teams as announced by the conference on Wednesday afternoon.

Black Bears Close Out 2012 Swimming and Diving Championships; Men Place 5th, Women 6th
A total of 19 school-records were either broke or re-broke by the Black Bears at this year's America East Championships. The women placed sixth with a final score of 307.5 while the men were fifth at 316.

School-Records Continue to Fall for Maine on Day Three of America East Championships
The school-records continued to fall on day three for the Black Bears as Maine set or re-set a total of seven school marks Saturday. The women's team currently sits in fifth place with a score of 199 while the men are sixth at 207.5.

Black Bears Compete at Day Two of America East Championships
The swimming & diving squads completed day two of the America East Championships on Friday evening at the Boston University Aquatics Center. Naja Harvey (Orono, Minn.) had the top finish of the day earlier this afternoon when she set a new school-record time of 23.78 in preliminaries of the 50-yard freestyle event. After two days of action, the men's team sits in fifth place at 109 points while the women are seventh with 115.5 points.

Day One of America East Championships Complete
The University of Maine swimming and diving teams completed day one of the America East swimming and diving championships on Thursday evening. The Black Bears had solid showing in the relay events on day one as the women's team broke a pair of school-records, setting new marks in both the 200-yard medley relay and the 800-yard freestyle relay. After one day of competition, the men's team is in third place with 71 points while the women are in sixth with 54 points.

Women's Swimming Defeats Boston College; Men Fall to Eagles
The University of Maine swimming & diving teams completed its meet with Boston College on Senior Day at Wallace Pool with the women picking up a 210-143 win while the men dropped its meet to the Eagles 276.5-75.5. Naja Harvey (Orono, Minn.) and Lauren Dwyer (Orono, Maine) each picked up a pair of victories to lead the women while Andrew Mackeil (Biddeford, Maine) tallied a win and a third place finish for the men.

The University of Maine swimming & diving teams competed on day one of its meet against visiting Boston College on Friday evening at Wallace Pool. The women currently lead the Eagles 64-27 while the men trail Boston College 70-21.

Swimming & Diving Competes at Bowdoin
The University of Maine swimming & diving teams competed in a non-scoring meet at Bowdoin College on Saturday afternoon. The Black Bears had several top finishers on the afternoon as they totaled 18 wins against the Polar Bears.

Swimming & Diving Sweeps Providence
The University of Maine men's and women's swimming and diving teams swept Providence College on Saturday afternoon. The women's team picked up a 186-112 victory while the men defeated the Friars 156.5-137.5. The Black Bears picked up 21 total wins en route to the sweep at Providence.

Black Bears Sweep Weekly Swimming and Diving Awards
The University of Maine swimming and diving teams, coming off a weekend sweep of Bates College, have now swept the weekly America East swimming and diving awards. Naja Harvey (Orono, Minn.) and Brian Landry (Yorktown, Va.) have each been named swimmers of the week as Kara Capossela (Greenwich, Conn.) and Travis Wibby (South Portland, Maine) have earned diver of the week accolades.

Swimming and Diving Sweeps Bates
The University of Maine swimming and diving teams swept visiting Bates College on Saturday afternoon at Wallace Pool. The women defeated Bates 210-90 while the men picked up a 169-125 win. The team of Naja Harvey (Orono, Minn.), Jenn Trodden (Reading, Mass.), Lauren Dwyer (Orono, Maine) and Emily Buczkowski (Woolwich, Maine) broke the school and pool record for the 200-yard freestyle relay with a new record time of 1:36.02, breaking the old school record mark of 1:36.64.

Chornobil Honored as America East Swimmer of the Week
Junior swimmer Yuri Chornobil (Rochester, N.Y.) has been named this week's America East Male Swimmer of the Week, as announced by the conference on Tuesday. This is Chornobil's second Swimmer of the Week award as he was also honored on Oct. 25.

Men and Women's Swimming and Diving Have Strong Showing at URI Invitational
The University of Maine swimming and diving teams competed in the Harold Anderson Invitational this weekend, hosted by the University of Rhode Island. After two days of competition, the women’s squad placed third out of the six teams they swam against with 679 total points while the men’s team placed second out of five teams, tallying 672 total points. Other teams competing were the University of Rhode Island, Providence College, Assumption College, Bryant University, and Holy Cross.

Swimming & Diving Open Conference Play Against Boston University, Stony Brook
The University of Maine swimming and diving squads opened conference action on Saturday afternoon with dual meets against Boston University and Stony Brook. The women's team picked up a 156-146 win over Stony Brook but fell to the Terriers 187-108. On the men's side, the Black Bears lost 183-117 to Stony Brook and dropped the meet to Boston University 207-87.

Swimming Competes at Boston College, Women in Dual Meet Action Against BC, Florida Gulf Coast
The Black Bears had several strong showings in their meet at Boston College as the men swam against the Eagles while the women battled Florida Gulf Coast and Boston College in a dual meet. On the women's side it was Boston College 170 Maine 130 and Florida Gulf Coast 168 Maine 123 while the men were defeated 187-102 by Boston College.

Black Bear Swimming and Diving Sweeps URI
The University of Maine swimming and diving teams has very successful days in the pool on Saturday afternoon. The women's team defeated URI 155-145 while the men also picked up a victory over the Rams by a score of 179-98.

Chornobil Named America East Swimmer of the Week
Junior distance swimmer Yuri Chornobil (Rochester, N.Y.) has been named this week's America East Swimmer of the Week after he paced the Black Bears to a solid showing at the Husky Invitational and a win at Bryant University.

Men's Swimming Defeats Bryant 135-127
The University of Maine swimming team defeated Bryant University 135-127 on Sunday afternoon. Yuri Chornobil (Rochester, N.Y.), Ryan Fahey (Quincy, Mass.), Brian Landry (Yorktown, Va.) and Andrew Meehan (Brewer, Maine) each picked up individual victories for the Black Bears.

Swimming and Diving Opens Season at Husky Invitational
The University of Maine swim teams opened up the 2011-12 season with a non-scored meet at the Husky Invitational hosted by UConn. Vermont, Fairfield, Providence and Fordham also took part in the invitational. The Black Bears had several top performances including a few great showings by the newcomers.
