Maine Completes the ECAC

ANNAPOLIS, Md.- The University of Maine men and women's swimming and diving team wrap up their 2013-2014 season at the ECAC. Matt England (Bangor, Maine) set a new school record in the 200-yard backstroke. John Carlucci (Danbury, Conn.) sets another school record in the 200-yard fly. Maine men finish seventh, and the women took 14th.

David Vittori (South Berwick, Maine) placed 19th in the 1650-yard freestyle at 16:17.60 to start off the Black Bears.

Lauren Dwyer (Orono, Maine) started off the finals with a 12th place finish in the 200-yard backstroke at 2:08.10.

Matt England (Bangor, Maine) grabbed an 11th place finish in the 200-yard backstroke and set a new school record of 1:50.47.

Caleb Hoffman (Waterville, Maine) touched for a 14th place finish with his best time of the season in the 200-yard breaststroke 207.71. Carlucci set another school record in the in the 200-yard butterfly 1:52.20. Teammate Sergey Terrio (Oakland, Maine) finished 12th with a time of 1:53.28

Erica Smricna (North Falmouth, Mass.) finished her career with 2:06.51 in the 200-yard fly. Taylor Sharp touched with a time of 206.82.

 

Prelims:

 The Black Bears started off Sunday morning with Dywer finishing 13th in the 200-yard backstroke at 208.18, earning a spot in the finals.

England earned a spot in the finals after placing tenth in the 200-yard backstroke at 1:52.39. Teammate Caleb Hoffman also landed a spot in the finals with a 15th place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:07.86.

Sharp grabbed eighth place finish in the 200-yard fly with a time of 2:05.69 followed by teammate Smrcina in 11th at 2:07.93. Both earned a spot in the finals.

Carlucci and Terrio both landed a spot in the finals in the 200-yard fly. Carlucci with a 12th place finish 1:53.44 and Terrio nabbed 15th 1:54.14.

Maine ended the prelims with a 9th place finish in the 400-yard free relay. Competing for the Black Bears McLeod, Chandler, Devers and Fahey.
