Maine Honors Scholar-Athletes for Academic Achievement February 1, 2012 ORONO, Maine--The University of Maine announced on Wednesday that 243 student-athletes will be honored and recognized for their success in the classroom at the Scholar-Athlete Recognition ceremony on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012. One-hundred seventy five student-athletes will be recognized as Scholar-Athletes for achieving a 3.0 or better grade point average for the 2011 year and/or having a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better. Sixty-eight first-year student-athletes will also be honored as *Rising Stars* for earning a 3.0 or better in their first semester at Maine. The Scholar-Athletes and *Rising Stars* total 243, over half of the student-athletes at the University of Maine.

Women's Swimming Defeats Boston College; Men Fall to Eagles January 28, 2012 The University of Maine swimming & diving teams completed its meet with Boston College on Senior Day at Wallace Pool with the women picking up a 210-143 win while the men dropped its meet to the Eagles 276.5-75.5. Naja Harvey (Orono, Minn.) and Lauren Dwyer (Orono, Maine) each picked up a pair of victories to lead the women while Andrew Mackeil (Biddeford, Maine) tallied a win and a third place finish for the men.

The women currently lead the Eagles 64-27 while the men trail Boston College 70-21.

Swimming & Diving Competes at Bowdoin January 21, 2012 The University of Maine swimming & diving teams competed in a non-scoring meet at Bowdoin College on Saturday afternoon. The Black Bears had several top finishers on the afternoon as they totaled 18 wins against the Polar Bears.

Swimming & Diving Sweeps Providence January 14, 2012 The University of Maine men's and women's swimming and diving teams swept Providence College on Saturday afternoon. The women's team picked up a 186-112 victory while the men defeated the Friars 156.5-137.5. The Black Bears picked up 21 total wins en route to the sweep at Providence.

Black Bears Sweep Weekly Swimming and Diving Awards December 13, 2011 The University of Maine swimming and diving teams, coming off a weekend sweep of Bates College, have now swept the weekly America East swimming and diving awards. Naja Harvey (Orono, Minn.) and Brian Landry (Yorktown, Va.) have each been named swimmers of the week as Kara Capossela (Greenwich, Conn.) and Travis Wibby (South Portland, Maine) have earned diver of the week accolades.
