Gagne and McFetters Sweep Field Performer of the Week Awards

ORONO, Maine – University of Maine men's and women's track and field standouts Justin Gagne and Robyn McFetters have been named the America East Field Performers of the Week.

Gagne, a senior from Biddeford, Maine, broke his own school record that he set last week in the discus throw with an IC4A-qualifying mark of 174-10 at the Holy Cross Invitational over the weekend. He broke his own record by over eight feet and the throw ranks 28th in the East Region. Gagne also won the shot put with a top-5 school and IC4A-qualifying mark of 52-10.25.

McFetters, a freshman from Barrington, R.I., easily qualified for the ECAC Championships with her winning throw of 185-10 in the hammer at the Holy Cross Invitational over the weekend. It supplanted the previous school record of 175-02 set by Rebecca Even in 2009, and ranks 27th in the East Region.

The Black Bears are back in action at New Hampshire this weekend.
