Reed Leads Men's Track on Day One of New England Championships
ORONO, Maine – James Reed (Garmisch, Germany) had a top-3 school time to lead the University of Maine men's track and field team on day one of the New England Championships hosted by Boston University.
Reed notched a top-3 school mark by taking third in the 60-meter hurdle prelims with a time of 8.07 and qualifying for finals. The time also easily qualifies for the IC4A Championships.
Frank Del Duca (Bethel, Maine) was seventh in the long jump with a mark of 22-09.25, a top-10 school mark while Jake Leithiser (Old Town, Maine) and Matthew Toothaker (Hampden, Maine) were competing in the heptathlon. Leithiser's performance included a win in the 60 meters with a time of 7.31 while Toothaker had a third place showing in the shot put with 37-11.50.
The Maine men are in 17th place after the first day.
