Reed Tops 60-Meter Hurdle Prelims to Highlight Day Two of ECAC/IC4A Meet
BOSTON, Mass. – Members of the men's track and field teams completed the second day of the ECAC/IC4A indoor track and field meet on Saturday as James Reeds' first-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles preliminary round, highlighted the event hosted by Boston University.
Reed, as he's done so many times this season, came in first in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.01, qualifying him for the finals of the meet. The senior sprinter bested 20 entrants on his way to the final round and will compete again on Sunday.
Jake Leithiser also had a strong finish in the 500-meter event coming in fifth overall and also advanced to the final round. Leithiser finished the event with a final time of 1:03.72 while UConn's Robert Rhodes bested the field of 28 with a time of 1:02.08.
Liam Nee competed in the 800m coming in 32nd overall with a time of 1:54.81, while Manhattan's Gregory Perrier came in first with a time of 1:51.17.
In the distance events, Kelton Cullenberg just missed placing in the top-10 in the 5k, coming in 11th overall. The senior completed the event with a time of 14:35.89 while Providence senior, Benjamin Connor bested the field of 29 with a time of 14:08.11.
Meade finished the triple jump with a 12th-place showing, coming in with a final mark of 14.12 meters (46-04.00). Bucknell's Ray Holmes topped all jumpers with a final mark of 15.17m (49-09.25).
Meanwhile weight throw record-holder Adams took 11th in the event. The junior from Barrington, R.I., recorded a final toss of 18.45m (60-06.50). Monmouth senior Errol Jeffery took first with a mark of 19.97 (65-06.25).
Maine entrants will have one final day to compete in the event as Sunday concludes the three-day meet. Check back to GoBlackBears.com for full results.
