Track and Field Completes Competition at NCAA Eastern Regionals

TALLAHASSEE, Florida--The University of Maine track and field teams completed competition at the NCAA Eastern Regionals on Saturday at Florida State University. On the women's side, Allyson Howatt (Fredericton, New Brunswick) competed in the 200 meter dash. She finished sixth in her heat with a time of 24.71. Vicki Tolton (Smithers, British Columbia) competed in the 400 meter dash and finished sixth in her heat with a time of 56.41. The 4x400 meter relay team of Howatt, Tolton, Lindsay Burlock (Caribou, Maine) and Vanessa Letourneau (Fairfield, Maine) set a school record with a time of 3:48.17. On the men's side, Jeff Ramos (Turner, Maine) competed in the high jump and did not post an official height. Matthew Holman (Gardiner, Maine) ran in the 400 meter hurdles and finished sixth in his heat with a time of 54.35. Miles Bartlett (Casco, Maine) ran the 3,000 meter steeplechase and placed 15th in his heat with a time of 9:39.08. The Black Bears concluded their season and will look to improve next season as both the men's and women's teams return several contributors from this season.
