Women's Basketball Travels to New Hampshire for Tuesday Evening Matchup

ORONO, Maine -- Maine returns to the road and looks to continue on the winning path as it looks for its second-straight win when the Black Bears meet up with New Hampshire on Tuesday evening. Last time out, Maine snapped its 15-game losing skid with a convincing 67-51 win over Stony Brook. Maine had four-scorers total double-figures for the first time in a single game as Danielle Walczak recorded her first double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

The Black Bears enter the game averaging 52.0 points per game while giving up 67.2 PPG. Maine is shooting 35.6% from the field, 25.6% from three-point range and 67.9% from the free throw line. Maine averages 36.2 rebounds per game, 11.6 assists and 7.0 steals while forcing 16.0 turnovers. The Black Bears' 5.0 three-pointers made per game rank second amongst America East leaders.

Sophomore forward Danielle Walczak leads the Black Bears in scoring as she is averaging 9.5 points per game with 5.2 rebounds and a team-high 46.3% mark from the floor. Junior guard Ashleigh Roberts is chipping in 9.4 points per game to go along with 4.5 rebounds while shooting 40.1% from the field. Freshman Liz Wood, who has scored in double-figures in four-straight games, is averaging 8.5 points and a team-high 6.1 rebounds. Wood also leads the Black Bears in  assists (2.6) and steals (1.4). Courtney Anderson is averaging 6.3 PPG with 2.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists. Freshman Sophie Weckström is adding 3.2 PPG and 2.0 assists while shooting 35.0% from beyond the three-point arc. Corinne Wellington is averaging 2.9 points and 4.1 rebounds while shooting 93.8% from the free-throw line.

The Wildcats enter the matchup winners of three of their last 10 matchups and are coming off a 60-52 win at Binghamton and were led by Morgan Frame's 23 points and eight rebounds. New Hampshire averages 54.4 points per game while shooting 38.7% from the field, 25.3% from long distance and 70.3% from the free throw line. The Wildcats average 36.9 rebounds and are led by Cari Reed who averages a team-high 12.9 points and also leads the team in rebounds with 7.7 per game. Frame is also averaging double-figures in scoring at 11.4 while pulling down 6.9 rebounds. Kelsey Hogan is chipping in 8.2 points and gets the offense moving with a team-high 3.3 assists per game. Sophomore Kaylee Kilpatrick is averaging 7.9 points and 4.7 rebounds.

This matchup marks the 76th meeting between Maine and New Hampshire. The Black Bears first ever game came against the Wildcats as the two teams met in 1920 in a contest won 15-13 by New Hampshire. More recently, the Wildcats won the last meeting 65-53 on Feb. 22, 2012 and have won five-straight against the Black Bears. Maine's last win against the Wildcats came on Feb. 16, 2010 as the Black Bears defeated UNH 69-61. Maine last won at Lundholm Gymnasium on Jan. 12, 2010 by a score of 65-61.
