Liz Wood Named America East Rookie of the Week for Sixth Time

ORONO, Maine -- University of Maine women's basketball freshman standout Liz Wood (Catlett, Va.) has been named America East Rookie of the Week for the sixth time, as announced by the conference on Monday morning. Wood averaged a double-double over the past week with 18.5 points and 10.0 rebounds.

Wood earned her sixth America East Rookie of the Week award, helping the Black Bears to a 1-1 record for the week. The freshman tied for the league-lead in scoring for the week, averaging 18.5 points and 10.0 rebounds while shooting 45.8-percent from the floor.  Wood had 15 points and seven rebounds in a loss at Hartford. She followed that with 22 points and a career-high 13 rebounds on seven-of-13 shooting in a road win over Binghamton to notch her fifth double-double of the season.

The Black Bears return to action on Wednesday evening when they host Vermont at 7:30 PM.
