ORONO, Maine -- University of Maine sophomore forward Liz Wood (Catlett, Va.) has been named the America East Co-Player of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday, March 3. Wood averaged a double-double with 18.0 points and 11.0 rebounds during the week in which she helped lead the Black Bears to a pair of wins.
Wood narrowly missed out on a triple-double as she tallied 20 points and career-highs in rebounds (15) and assists (8) while adding a pair of steals in Maine's win over UMass Lowell. Wood followed up her performance with a strong showing in the Black Bears' final regular season contest as she totaled 16 points, including the 650th point of her career, to go along with seven rebounds.
Wood shot 60.9-percent (14-for-23), went 5-for-5 from the free throw line and tallied the ninth double-double of her career, and her fourth of the season, with her performance against UMass Lowell.
Maine enters the America East tournament as the #4 seed as it will meet up with #5 Hartford on Friday, March 7 at 8 PM.
