Second Half Comeback Falls Short for Maine at New Hampshire

The Black Bears (6-22, 3-12 America East) showed a great second half fight Wednesday evening at New Hampshire (15-12, 8-7), fighting back multiple times from down by double-digits to cut the lead to as little as five at one point. However, the Black Bears never could even things up, falling to the Wildcats 65-53. Brittany Williams (Rochester, N.Y.) was named Maine's America East Player of the Game as she tallied 13 points with four rebounds.

A second half surge from Vermont proved to be too much for Maine to overcome as the Black Bears fell 71-54 to the Catamounts. The loss slips Maine back to 6-21 and 3-11 in America East action while Vermont improves to 10-18, 4-11 in league play. Corinne Wellington (Rochester, N.Y.) netted 14 points and pulled down four rebounds to earn Maine’s America East Player of the Game.

The University of Maine women's basketball squad fell to Hartford 59-40 on Wednesday evening on a special Play4Kay night at Alfond Arena. The loss slips Maine back to 6-20 and 3-10 in America East play while the Hawks improved to 17-10, 8-5 in league action. Danielle Walczak (Lee, N.H.) led Maine with 11 points and five rebounds, earning her Maine's America East Player of the Game nod.
