Albany jumped out to an early 1-0 lead as Daphne Voormolen scored off a set penalty corner play, 6:45 into the first half. Jessica Longstreth inserted the ball to the top of the circle where Corrine McConville made the stop. Voormolen's direct shot snuck through the Maine defense to give the Great Danes the early edge.
Voormolen gave the Great Danes a two goal advantage with her second goal of the game with 5:08 remaining in the first half. Longstreth began the rush for Albany who broke out of its own zone and quickly advanced the ball towards the Maine defense. Longstreth slid a pass to the left side of the Maine circle where Voormolen snuck a shot past Maine goalkeeper Alicia Frisch (Calgary, Alberta) on the short side post.
The Black Bears started the second half scoring as Sevey tipped in Maine's first goal of the evening. Setup on the penalty corner, Zoe Adkins (Coquitlam, British Columbia) inserted the ball to the top of the circle where the stop was made. Annabelle Hamilton (North Vancouver, British Columbia) slid a shot towards the Great Dane cage where Sevey was perfectly located on the left post for the tip high into the cage.
Albany responded with a pair of goals in the next 3:33. Longstreth tallied the third goal of the contest for the Great Danes as she received a loose ball off a turnover which bounced through the center of the Maine circle. Longstreth, stationed all alone on the left post, re-directed the bouncing ball into the Maine cage for the score.
The Great Danes added their fourth goal just 64-seconds later as Voormolen notched her third goal of the contest. The Albany goal developed off a penalty corner with assists coming from Longstreth and Laura Page.
Frisch finishes the season at 8-6 in the cage for Maine after making five saves. Albany goalkeeper Kristi Troch made one save in the win.
